Disability Rights Commission
The Disability Rights Commission consists of a Common Council member, and 12 resident members. All members reside in the City of Madison and are knowledgeable of the needs, rights, and collective aspirations of residents with disabilities. Our goal is to have leaders with diverse identities represent the diversity of Madison’s disability community.
Responsibilities
- Recommends policy to the Mayor, Common Council and Department of Civil Rights in all areas that affect people with disabilities and their families.
- Studies and makes recommendations to City departments, committees and commissions for better access to facilities and services for people with disabilities and their families.
- Engages with the community regarding concerns and solutions that advance access.

- Meetings. The Disability Rights Commission currently meets virtually on the 4th Thursday of every month from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. Meetings are open to the public.
