Donna Collingwood is a graphic technician for the Department of Planning and Economic Development. She has served on WIC since 2009, and cites expanding opportunities and developing friendships as benefits of joining WIC. She said she has learned about different departments and the City as a whole, and has worked on some great projects as a WIC Member.
Gretchen Ede is with Madison Public Library and is a long-time member of WIC.
Melissa Gombar works as a Employee Development and Organizational Effectiveness Specialist in Human Resources. Melissa is passionate about personal growth, professional development, and self care for each and every City of Madison employee. She is a burgeoning advocate for paid paternal leave and creating healthy work cultures for parents and families. Additionally, she is committed to honoring intersections of every woman's unique identity including sexual orientation, gender identity, race, socioeconomic status, and disability, as well as many of the other identities women have.
Erin Hillson is the Employee Development and Organizational Effectiveness Manager for the City. She has worked for the City in a variety of capacities over the last two decades, and has been with Human Resources since 2008. She has a Master's Degree in Human Resources and Labor Relations from UW Milwaukee, and an undergraduate degree in Psychology from UW Madison. She has a passion for assisting individuals realize their own potential, and for creating equitable work systems and structures for everyone, to ultimately impact our community's experience in a positive way.
Johanna Johnson is a Program Assistant in the City Engineering Division. She has served on WIC since November, 2015.
Tory Larson is a Program Assistant specializing in Employee Development and Organizational Effectiveness in the Human Resources Department.
Kelly Odegaard is a Metro Transit Operator.
Connie Thompson is the Director of Quality Improvement & Operations at Monona Terrace Community & Convention Center. With 17 years of experience at MT, she was one of the original full time employees hired prior to the opening of the building. She is also an Adjunct Professor at Edgewood College in the Organizational Behavior and Leadership undergraduate degree program.
Connie recalls being asked by fellow WIC member, Nancy McCulley, to consider joining the committee. After attending a few meetings she says she was hooked by the enthusiasm and desire to make a difference, so she joined. She said her passion is to help others move forward in their careers and WIC is a good forum to achieve that goal.
Liza Tatar is Apparatus Engineer with MFD. She has been a firefighter for the City of Madison since 2005. MFD has about 3-4 times the national average of female firefighters and sets the mold for other cities to follow. "I want to continue to foster the role of women in the City and in firefighting," Liza said. "One of the many tools I keep in my toolbox is the Women's Initiative Committee."
