Thin Ice and Dangerous Conditions at Madison Ice Rinks

December 8, 2005

The Madison Parks Outdoor Ice Rink conditions continue to be unsafe for people to walk on. A thin layer of snow on top of very thin ice creates dangerous conditions. The insulation of the snow prevents the thickening of the ice. People and their pets are encouraged to stay off of the ice.

The Madison Parks Division staff is working daily on the ice rink maintenance. The outdoor ice rinks will be opened as soon as it is safe for the public to skate.
