Look for Recycling Containers at Rhythm and Booms
June 26, 2008
The City of Madison will have new recycling containers in place for this year's Rhythm and Booms event at Warner Park.
"With over 250,000 people set to attend this year's Rhythm and Booms, a lot of recyclable material will be generated," Madison Recycling coordinator George Dreckmann said. "We are asking for the public's help in making this year's event a success from and environmental perspective by using the recycling containers."
"We are going to use the blue Clear Stream recycling containers that have been used at other special events in Madison and the Dane County Farmer's Market," Dreckmann stated. "These containers will be place throughout the park along with tan refuse collection carts."
This will be the first year the Clear Stream containers will be used at Rhythm and Booms. Last year, the Streets Division tried using the green recycling carts from the curbside program, but there was too much trash mixed with the recyclables for the material to be recovered.
"We are going to be recycling all bottles and cans as well as paper at Rhythm and Booms," Dreckmann said. "However, we cannot recycle cups. People should remember to put plastic and paper cups in the trash, not recycling."
