City Institutes On-line Recruiting/Application System

November 7, 2011

In an effort to create a more efficient hiring process for the City of Madison, Mayor Paul Soglin and the City's Human Resources Department have instituted an automated recruiting/application system. The new web-based system became effective November 1, 2011 and is administered by NEOGOV, a provider of on-line applicant tracking systems for public sector clients. Applicants will now view job announcements and apply for City jobs on-line, which will improve the hiring process experience for applicants and City staff by reducing time, paper and postage throughout the entire selection process. The City Human Resources Department will no longer accept paper applications.

Mayor Soglin said, "This new system will make it easier for interested workers to access the city's job openings and application process. I am pleased that the system is in place. The city strives to find the best candidates for every position and this on-line approach will assist not only the City, but also qualified individuals interested in City employment."

Applicants who do not own or have access to a computer may visit the Madison Public Library, which offers free internet access and staff assistance at any one of nine locations around the City. Library staff has been briefed on the new system and are prepared to provide assistance to applicants. Applicants in need of reasonable accommodations during the application process due to a disability can contact the City of Madison Occupational Accommodations Specialist at (608) 267-1156 or email sseverson@cityofmadison.com.

The new system and a listing of open jobs can be viewed on the City of Madison website at www.cityofmadison.com/hr.
