City and Dane County Announce Vendors' Conference to Replace WTA

Madison – The City of Madison Office of Community Services and Dane County Department of Human Services today announced that a vendors’ conference will be held for organizations interested in providing transit services previously offered by the Women’s Transit Authority (WTA). Conference details: WHERE: Madison Municipal Building Parks Conference Room 120 (enter through Parks Department office, 215 Martin Luther King Jr., Blvd. Madison, WI WHEN: Tuesday, February 7. 1:00 – 3:00 pm Staff from the City and County will be available to discuss the establishment of a transportation service that would provide nighttime sexual assault prevention rides and a community assistance daytime ride service for low-income individuals without transportation alternatives. The daytime service will provide service to meet basic needs such as medical appointments, food pantry and grocery shopping trips, mental health treatment and other pressing needs that might go unmet without such a service. The availability of Medical Assistance rides as a part of the service will be discussed, although it cannot be part of the joint application. Resources available, qualifications of a vendor, and other basic information will be provided at the conference. You do not have to attend the conference to apply to operate the service.
