1. Hourly Rates (Cashiered, Pay-on-Foot, Metered and  Motorcycle Meters)
2.
Evening and Weekend Rates (Cashiered / Pay-on-Foot only)
3.
Special Event Pay-on-Entry (Cashiered / Pay-on-Foot only)

 1

 Hourly Rates in City-Operated Ramps

Hourly rates in City-operated ramps vary by location and are in effect 24/7, including Sundays and Holidays.

Exceptions:

  • Evenings and weekends hourly fees are charged up to a maximum of $3. (See # 2, below.)

  • During special events a flat fee of $4 is charged on entry.

 2

Evening and Weekend Rates when there is NO Special Event

$3 is the maximum cost to park in the cashier-operated section of any of the City of Madison's parking ramps during each of the following periods:

  • 6 pm to 5 am Monday through Friday
  • 5 am Saturday to 5 am Sunday
  • 5 am Sunday to 5 am Monday

Hourly rates are charged up to a maximum of $3.

Exceptions:

  • This rate is not valid in the metered section of the State Street Capitol Ramp.

  • This rate is not valid for special events when a flat fee of $4 is charged on entry.

 3

 Special Events

A special event fee is charged when a large number of people are expected to exit the ramp at the same time. The purpose of collecting payment on entry is to speed the exit time of patrons after the event. (Collecting payment prior to the event, over a longer period of time, causes fewer back-ups.)

  • Uniformed employees collect payment from each vehicle before it enters the ramp.
  • Payment must be made in cash.
  • Additional information or instruction may be given at the time of entry.

Expect delays!

There is no way to effectively eliminate lines in the midst of pedestrian and car traffic back-ups. We appreciate your patience and understanding during high volume times.

 PARKING RAMP REGULATIONS:

A. General
B. Cannot Pay Fee
C. Lost Entrance Ticket
D. Overnight Parking

 A

 General
  • Loitering and possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages is prohibited.
  • No skateboarding, inline skating (rollerblading), roller skating or bicycle riding in any ramp.
  • Parking is allowed only in marked stalls. Parking out of an indicated space may result in a ticket being issued.

 B

 Cannot Pay Fee

1. If you cannot pay your parking fee in cash ($20 bill or less) or with a Visa or MasterCard you will be issued a failure to pay ticket as you leave the ramp.

2. The "parking fee" is written  in the lower right corner of the blue ticket copy and is equal to the amount you owe for parking fee plus a $2.00 Service Charge.

3. If a payment is not mailed within 5 days, the fee increases to the amount written in the "amount due" box in the lower left of the light yellow ticket copy and is processed by the Madison Police Department via the court system.

 C

 Lost Entrance Ticket

1. If you lose your entrance ticket, you will be charged the lost ticket fee indicated on the parking rate sign at the entrance and exit. Cashier or Pay- on- Foot Station will issue a receipt for payment of lost ticket fee.

2. If you later find your entrance ticket and wish to recover the difference between the fee paid and the amount you actually owed, send the entrance ticket and the receipt along with your name and address legibly printed  to:

Madison Parking Division
215 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Suite 100
P.O. Box 2986
Madison, WI  53701-2986

A refund will be mailed to you in approximately two to three weeks.

 Overnight Parking

Parking Fee Notices

Parking Fee Notices are issued to late evening parkers at some city ramps. They are not "parking tickets" but rather a notice of the amount due in lieu of paying a cashier.

If the cashier is not on duty when you leave:

1. Enclose the entrance ticket, Parking Fee Notice, and the amount due in the envelope. (The entrance ticket is needed to verify your time of arrival.) Make checks payable to City of Madison Treasurer.

2. Drop the envelope in the yellow drop box located next to the cashier's booth at the exit, or use the U.S. Mail. CASH PAYMENT IS NOT RECOMMENDED IF MAILED.

3. Enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope for a receipt.

4. If you fail to pay this notice in ten (10) days or do not include your entrance ticket, a failure to pay ticket may be issued, a fine will be added  and the failure to pay ticket will be processed by the Madison Police Department via the court system.

If the cashier is on duty when you leave:

1. Give the cashier your entry ticket and the Parking Fee Notice. You must give the parking cashier this notice when you leave; otherwise we will not know that you have paid the parking fee.

2. The cashier calculates your actual parking fee.

3. Pay the required parking fee and request a receipt.
