Japanese Beetles

There has been a large number of calls this summer to the Forestry Section, “What are these bugs??!!”  The Japanese Beetle feeds on roses, fruit trees, lindens, elms, maples, just to name a few.

Treatment:  We recommend spraying a 50/50 mixture of dish soap and water directly on the beetle.  The soapy mixture will dry up the body of the beetle.  We do NOT recommend the Japanese beetle traps.  The traps only serve to attract more beetles to your yard and the traps only capture about 50% of the beetles.
