Madison Emerald Ash Borer Information
Where is EAB now?
Many towns and counties throughout Wisconsin have confirmed Emerald Ash Borer, including Dane County.
On Friday, November 22, 2013, EAB was confirmed in an ash tree in the City of Madison in the Warner Park area on the City's northside. As of April 2015, EAB has been found in 5 areas of the city of Madison:
- Warner/ Berkley Park area
- High Crossing Blvd/ East Towne area
- Femrite Dr / Dutch Mill Rd area
- Doncaster Park/ Mohawk Dr area
- Middleton. N Gammon Rd/ Teideman's Pond area
Forestry Staff is systematically inspecting all ash terrace trees within the City of Madison. They are placing yellow dots on ash trees that do not meet the EAB treatment criteria.
If you think your private tree is infested with EAB, please contact a private tree care company or certified arborist to verify the infestation at your own expense. City of Madison Forestry Section will be concentrating its efforts on city street trees.
If you have an ash tree on your private property, you will need to make a decision to treat or remove the tree. If you do not make a decision, it will be made for you. All untreated ash trees will die, EAB is 100% fatal to untreated ash trees. To help you in your decision, we created a homeowner's decision guide.
