Madison
Parks Open House
July 15, 11a.m.-1p.m. 100 Blk MLK, Jr. Blvd
THANK
YOU FOR MAKING THIS A SUCCESSFUL EVENT. We enjoyed meeting
everyone who stopped by and enjoyed showcasing our community's
parks.
Ever wonder
how many parks there are within the city limits? Or which golf
course is the best for beginners? Have a question about which plant
will work best in your shady backyard? Or maybe your daughter wants
to meet Maynard the Mallard, or your son wants to sit in one of the
big tractor mowers (yeah, we know that actually YOU want to sit in
the big tractor, that's ok.) Then
come check out the Madison Parks first ever Open House and have
Parks Staff answer your questions, take home brochures and maps
about the many sections under the Parks Division or just get to know
the parks and facilities.
The
Open House will be held on Wednesday, July 15 from 11:00 a.m. to
1:00 p.m. on the 100 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Attendees
can receive free handouts with information about each division under
the Parks, quiz Olbrich horticulturists and Forestry staff,
visit a 'dog park' and even watch demonstrations by large
equipment used for park maintenance.
And
come expecting to learn about a lot about your parks! And with the
Wednesday Farmer's Market going on right across the street you can
even make a day of it.
July
is Parks and Recreation Month and is dedicated to celebrating the
open spaces and recreation that make our country unique. Here in
Madison the Parks Division is uniquely large, managing over 6,000
acres of parkland and (for the answer to our opening question!)
over 260 parks. Join us at the Madison Parks Open House and
celebrate our community's parks.
