A new open-sided, reservable picnic shelter has been constructed at Norman Clayton Park!
New picnic tables (3-4 total) will be added to the shelter by the end of June, after the asphalt path has had time to fully cure.
Included as part of a contract to construct shelters at a total of three City of Madison Parks, the project was constructed by Madison Commercial Landscapes of Fitchburg, WI who submitted the lowest qualified bid of $145,000 at the bid opening on March 10, 2017.
Work on the project began in early May at both Allied Park and Norman Clayton Park followed by Sauk Creek Park in early June. All shelters will be completed on or before September 1, 2017.
The new shelter will replace the former timber frame shelter that was damaged during a storm and subsequently removed. The new building will be located at the same location in the park on a new concrete foundation but will be constructed of powder-coated steel and will hold 3-4 picnic tables.
