Last Updated: 03/12/2018
Based on the feedback received both prior to and at the public meeting (materials from that session are posted, below) staff are recommending that the Rennebohm Park Master Plan Amendment as shown, below, move forward for review and approval at the Board of Park Commissioners meeting to be held:
Board of Park Commissioners Meeting
Olbrich Botanical Gardens, 3330 Atwood Avenue, Madison
Meeting starts at 6:30 PM
Pending approval by the Board of Park Commissioners, the amended master plan will be referenced in city wide contracts including the 2018 Park Paving contract, which will include realignment of the park's east-west asphalt path to accommodate the expanded community garden.
Please contact Kate Kane at (608) 261-9671 or at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or comments regarding the project.
The City of Madison Parks Division together with the Mayor's Food Policy Coordinator held a public input meeting regarding a proposed master plan amendment to allow for the expansion of the community gardens at Rennebohm Park on March 8th at Mt. Olive Church in Madison. There were approximately 27 attendees at the session, as well as District 11 Alder Martin. City of Madison Parks heard from 9 others who were unable to attend the meeting but were interested in expressing an opinion and/or requesting additional information.
At the meeting, City staff presented a brief recap of the public input process regarding the expansion of the Hill Farms Area Community Garden, together with a staff report summarizing the findings regarding the proposed expansion. Parks staff then presented visuals showing the proposed community garden expansion area, path realignment and relocation of the existing backstop at the park.
