Whether the event is a small neighborhood festival, charity run/walk,
large sporting event or concert, Madison Parks and the State Street area are popular venues for special
events.

What is a Special Event?
A Special Event
includes any of the following:
4An event in a city park
or street that will have more
than 300 attendees.
4An
event that includes the sale of merchandise, food,
beverages, etc.
4A fund-raiser
4Walk/Run Event
4Concert
4Festival
4Athletic Tournament
4Parade
4An event that uses a public facility to
realize financial gain 4An
Event scheduled for a full-day or multiple days.
Special Events require additional planning because these events will impact the
park, residents and merchants. Therefore it is vital, as the Event
Organizer, you have planned a safe event and have secured all of the appropriate
permits and approvals
BEFORE proceeding with any
advertising/marketing of your event.

of your proposed event.
4Decide
on the LOCATION and check its AVAILABILITY.
4Create
a basic EVENT PLAN.

all required PERMITS necessary for your proposed
event.

all costs and ESTABLISH A BUDGET for your event.

a NOTIFICATION PLAN of the impacted residents,
merchants and alders.
4Complete
the appropriate Special Event Packet APPLICATION.
