DetailsOn Saturday night, Madison Police took a complaint from a 35-year old Madison woman who had just had a bad experience at her chiropractor's East Washington Avenue clinic. She had called earlier in the day wanting to set up an appointment for back pain. A man answering the phone told her he was filling in for her vacationing chiropractor. He agreed to see her at 7:30 p.m. When the woman arrived a dishelved man with a thick beard, who was wearing a baseball hat, met her. He was in the company of a younger man: Mr. Clint Campeau, age 46, Madison. Campeau indicated he was the one "helping out and filling in." When Campeau began working on the woman's back she said it, "felt wrong," and that her back was only getting sorer at the hands of Campeau. She announced she was now ok, and would be leaving. She said, when she got up, she realized Campeau smelled of alcohol. According to the woman: he told her she could drop some money off in the morning for the massage, or could just give him a hug. Officers went to the clinic and found the "disheveled" man – a 52-year old with no permanent address - seated at a picnic table behind the building drinking beer. His associate – Campeau - was also located. He was asleep. Campeau was awakened, and explained he had been doing some carpentry work for the vacationing chiropractor. He said he never told the woman he was a chiropractor, but did offer to give her a massage. He denied asking for money, or a hug. The woman said her back now hurt more than when she went for the "treatment", and indicated she would be taking an aspirin and resting for the rest of the evening.
