Incident Date04/08/2013 - 7:21 PM
Address1600 block Fordem Ave.
Victim(s)Male, age 19, Madison
DetailsHe was told he had to pay up or go to jail. Instead, the 19-year old Madison man called police. He knew he had not taken out a loan from a cash advance store, and that the people calling from the "Anderson Law Firm" were really crooks. The Madisonian said he had several conversations with different people, all of whom had accents who thought to be Middle Eastern. They had called from 334-316-2525 and said the $300 loan had been secured several months ago. The "law firm," under this ruse, was to collect or police would come and put the teen behind bars. The victim did a Google search and realized others have also been hit up by "Anderson." While he did not fall for the fraud, he was troubled the "law firm" seemed to have a lot of his personal information, including his social security number.
