Address1400 block Northport Dr.
Suspect(s)Male, black, 5'5" to 5'6", average build, late 40's to early 50's, very short hair, facial stubble, wearing a short-sleeve, black, button-up shirt with gold accents, dark baseball hat and carrying a black backpack.
Female, 30-40 years old, heavy set, wearing a light blue sweatshirt, floppy hat and sunglasses.
Victim(s)Male, age 29, Madison
DetailsA Madison man was recently victimized in a pigeon drop scam after being approached by a smooth-talking stranger on N. Sherman Ave. The other man spoke with an accent, and was asking for directions to State St. He convinced the victim he was from Indonesia and in America to carry out his recently deceased father's will. The con-man produced a fat stack of cash, said it was $120,000, and that his father wanted it dispersed to certain churches. Soon, the victim – for a certain amount of compensation - agreed to help with this mission.
The conman said they would also need a third party to disseminate such a large sum, and - lo and behold - he was able to waive down a woman in the parking lot of a Northport Dr. fast-food restaurant. The victim initially believed I this was another chance encounter, but later realized she was an accomplice.
The ringleader of the pigeon drop said he needed to trust his team, and to do that each member must give him $1,000. He promised the funds would be returned, and the woman did get her money back. The victim, of course, did not.
