Dexter R. Curry, 23-year-old male of Madison, WI
CHARGES: Receiving Stolen Property & Burglary

64-year-old male of Madison, WI

A 64-year-old Madison resident was the victim of a burglary on 7/26/2013, and after reporting the items that were stolen, the victim noticed his computer (Mac Book) was listed on Craigslist for sale.  The seller was asking $300 for the computer, and the victim contacted police to find out how he could best deal with obtaining his property.

A meet was coordinated on 7/27/2013, and Dexter Curry showed up to the transaction location with the victim's computer and accessories.  Curry was taken into custody, as he described an elaborate business scheme of purchasing merchandise from individuals at pawn shops.  Police questioned the validity of Curry's story, and surprisingly obtained an alternative version of Curry's activity; with respect to the stolen property that happened to be in his possession.

The public is reminded to always secure all windows and doors of your residence, and never allow items of value to be visible from the exterior of your home, as that could entice a suspect to enter your property, and could increase the potential of you being the victim of a burglary or theft crime.  The best safety tips are those in which individuals are paying close attention to small details that allow a suspect an easy opportunity.
