Incident Report for Case #2013-251608

Incident Type

Intoxicated/Impaired Driver

Incident Date

08/15/2013 - 9:18 AM

2500 Packers Ave.

James Blandin, age 31, Madison
Mr. Blandin was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated - 3rd offense and Bail Jumping. He was also cited for Hit & Run and Failure to Prove Insurance Coverage.

Two concerned citizens chased after a hit-and-run driver Thursday morning, and assisted officers in capturing the suspect in the 1900 block of Windom Way. Minutes earlier witnesses said the 31-year old Madison man drove a BMW "at full throttle" into a light pole in the 2500 block of Packers Ave. The car was significantly damaged and the light pole was left leaning, partially pulled out of the ground. The driver got out and took off running, with the concerned citizens - two men – in tow. They stayed with the fleeing man until police arrived, and tried to help an officer grab the suspect. He escaped their grasp, jumped a fence, before being tackled by police. The suspect said he had been at an "after-set party" and had been driving around dropping off friends at their work places. He was the only one in the car at the time of the crash.
