Details

A couple of slick talking teens convinced a 21-year old downtown resident to let them borrow her iPhone 4 early Sunday morning. She was outside in the 600 block of Howard Place when they showed up. She reluctantly let them make a call, which they pretended to do before running off with the phone. She started yelling for help, and MPD officers heard her pleas. They were already in the area, and had earlier seen 4 teens hanging out in the Langdon St. area. The young men stood out as they wore long pants and hooded sweatshirts on a hot night when everyone else in the area was clad in shorts and t-shirts. Police were able to locate 2 of 4 suspects, but were not immediately able to develop probable to arrest either for the theft. The phone has not yet been recovered, and the two detained teens denied knowing the names of their friends.
