Incident Type

Incident Date

08/26/2013 - 11:00 AM

2040 S. Park St. (Wisconsin Management Company)

Jeffrey B. White, age 53, Madison
Suspect was arrested for Theft and Bail Jumping.

Female, age 41, Oregon, WI

A businesswoman was returning to her S. Park St. office yesterday morning, when she spotted an intruder walking out of it. He claimed to be looking for a bathroom, and she led him to one. Later, she realized her cell phone was missing from her desktop. She called her number and a man answered. He said he had found her phone, and was not far from her office. He said he would bring it to her. When he arrived, the victim immediately recognized the man as the stranger who had been in her office earlier. He turned over the phone and began asking about reward money for "finding" it. The woman informed the man that he had stolen the phone, not found it, and he would be getting no cash. "Well, I just need a little money, like three to five dollars," he replied. She told him he needed to leave. She's not sure why he brought the phone back, outside of the possibility that he was seeking reward funds. Responding officers located the suspect in the 1900 block of S. Park St. He told one that he had actually found the phone on the floor of a nearby store. The 53-year old was arrested for theft and bail jumping.
