Incident Type

Incident Date

09/28/2013 - 5:05 PM

7202 Watts Rd. (Walmart)

Laura A. Shidell, age 32, Middleton
Suspect was arrested for 2nd Degree Reckless Endangerment, Battery, Resisting/Obstructing, Disorderly Conduct, and Retail Theft.

Male, age 24, Cross Plains

A Walmart shoplifter punched a security guard in the head, got in her car and nearly ran over the victim and one of his workmates Saturday afternoon. This was after the suspect unleashed a series of expletives while screaming and yelling at the security team, all of this within earshot of lots of shoppers, including young children. The 32-year old Middleton woman had stuffed several pairs of leggings and some "warming oil" in her purse. She then pushed a cart with other items to the checkout. She paid for what was in the cart, but not for what she had concealed. When called out by security staff, she became outraged, throwing the stolen items onto the floor. After delivering the blow to the loss prevention officer's head, she got into her car, which was parked in a disabled parking spot. She then drove at the security team, with her two middle fingers extended upwards as she clutched the steering wheel. The victims said she gunned the engine, and accelerated at them before slamming on the brakes. They estimate she came within five feet of hitting them. Fortunately, they were able to get her license plate number. Responding officer spotted the suspect on University Ave., near Allen Blvd., and pulled her over. Still angry, she turned her verbal rant towards police. "I should have hit you (expletive) too!" she yelled from the back of a squad car.
