There have been a rash of car break-ins recently in his Valor Way neighborhood, so when the 31-year old homeowner heard his car alarm blaring shortly after 3:00 a.m. this morning, he went out to investigate, flashlight  in hand. There was no one near his car, but he could see a suspect inside his neighbor's vehicle. The man was rummaging through a purse. When he got out, the homeowner questioned him. The suspect claimed he lived at the residence and, in fact, had just moved in yesterday. The homeowner knew this to be a lie, as he knows his neighbors well. In an instant, he says the suspect lunged at him. He was afraid the stranger might be armed. Fearing for his safety, he swung the flashlight in defense. It connected with the man's face. Police were already on their way, as the witness had told his wife to call 911 before he ventured outside. He held the would-be thief down until officers arrived. The suspect was taken to a hospital with facial injuries, and was cited for attempted theft and disorderly conduct. He is also on probation and his agent was notified of his arrest.
