Incident Report for Case #2013-333083

Incident Type

Incident Date

10/22/2013 - 2:01 PM

7801 Mineral Point Rd. (BMO Harris Bank)

Dion J. Davis, age 29, Calumet Park, IL

Rashad R. Bingham, age 18, Chicago, IL

Ursula M. Walker, age 19, Chicago, IL

All suspects were arrested and tentatively charged with Identity Theft.

Three Illinois residents were arrested Tuesday afternoon after attempting to defraud a Mineral Point Rd. bank out of $500.

While this crime was unsuccessful, the preliminary investigation indicates cash advances, using similar fraudulent debit cards, have recently been obtained following stops at other area financial institutions.

Yesterday, an observant BMO Harris Bank teller knew immediately the Green Dot Gold Visa debit card being presented was counterfeit, although it did contain the name of the female suspect trying to use it.

The teller tried to stall the suspect while police responded, but she took off. Bank staff provided descriptions of suspects and the black 2008 Mercedes-Benz they were traveling in.

A West District officer spotted the car at the nearby Wells Fargo Bank, 432 S. Gammon Rd. Officers moved in and made arrests, and investigators recovered eight bogus Green Dot cards, similar to the one the female suspect attempted to use at the BMO Harris Bank.
