A stranger who initially tried to pass himself off as a Good Samaritan ended up pulling a gun on a man who was changing a tire last night. The victim, a 28-year old from Madison, had been called to the intersection of New Washburn Way and S. High Point Rd. by a 25-year old female friend. She had gotten a flat tire and needed help. As he was providing the requested assistance, a car pulled up and parked behind the woman's car. Two men got out and asked several times if the victim needed a hand. He did not. The men returned to their car with the gun-wielding passenger returning, moments later, to where the victim was working. The victim directed the beam of his flashlight at the man, and could see he had a gun in hand. He responded by arming himself with a tire iron and yelling for his female friend to call police. At that point, the gunman returned to his car and fled. The victim does not whether this was a robbery attempt, or if the men were just upset at being rebuffed after offering help. He said the passenger said nothing after returning with the gun.
