Incident Report for Case #2013-364240

Incident Type

Incident Date

11/15/2013 - 8:00 AM

Waxwing Lane

Female, age 62, Madison

She has entered a lot of contests in her life, and thought her ship had finally come in last month. "Mr. David Washington" from "Cash Prize Resources" had called and told the 62-year old that she had won $2.5 million and a car. All she needed to do was pay $2,500 to process the winnings. The woman went to her bank, and told a teller of her "good news." The bank employee advised this was a scam, and police were called. An officer was at the victim's home when "Mr. Washington" called again. The officer took the phone and told "Mr. Washington" he was talking with the MPD and that the victim was to be left alone. She did provide "Washington" with a good deal of personal information prior to learning she was being duped.
