DetailsThe MPD is seeking your help in identifying two women in a credit card crime with the victim eating lunch at Barnes & Noble, 7433 Mineral Point Rd.
The 53-year old Verona woman had slung her coat and purse over the back of a chair. It was the 5th of December and the café in which she was seated was quite busy. A couple of women sat down behind her, within arm's length of her purse. When she turned to get it, she noticed it unzipped with her wallet now sticking out of the top. She inspected and determined four credit cards were gone. She asked the women if either had gone into her purse, and they denied wrongdoing. One did advise that if she had credit cards stolen, she best get them canceled.
The victim got up to speak with a store manager, and as she did so she looked back to the café. The two women had made a fast exit. They were gone. A short time later, two of her credit cards were used to make $2,500 worth of purchases at the Fitchburg Super Target, 6321 McKee Rd. The women in the photographs are believed to be responsible for credit card fraud.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 266-6014.
