Suspect is charged with Strangulation and Suffocation, 2nd Degree Sexual Assault/Use of Force, Battery and Disorderly Conduct.

UpdateThe suspect, Mr. Palen, has now been connected to at least three violent and unsolved sexual assaults that took place in his former city of residence, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
DNA found at the Madison crime scene was entered into a national data base. A Philadelphia detective contacted the Madison case detective on March 11th saying there was a DNA match with a stranger assault that took place in his jurisdiction on August 3, 2011.
The detective also indicated Mr. Palen is a suspect in two other Philadelphia sexual assaults.
Mr. Palen moved from Philadelphia to the Madison area in 2013.
He is currently in the Dane County Jail facing several charges in the Madison case: Strangulation and Suffocation, 2nd Degree Sexual Assault/Use of Force, Battery and Disorderly Conduct.

DetailsA Madison woman says a man she recently met online battered, sexually assaulted, and strangled her inside her Aberg Ave. area home early Monday morning. The victim, who is in her 40's, had never met the suspect in person until he came to visit. She ended up fleeing her apartment and calling for help following the assault. The suspect fled before police arrived and was arrested Monday night at his Middleton residence.
