DetailsThe victim returned to where he had been working and realized his laptop was gone. It was yesterday morning, and a colleague told him about a man who had just departed after wandering around the Lake Point Community Center, 1917 Lake Point Dr. The two men got into a car and found the suspect coming out of a restaurant on W. Broadway. They confronted him about the theft. The 20-year old was wearing a backpack, and denied the stolen laptop was therein. He even partially opened it, trying to show off some of its contents. As he did, the victim thought he could actually see his property, although a bit hidden. He grabbed the backpack, and discovered it did contain his computer. He took it back and he and his colleague called police as they returned to the community center. Officers found the suspect at bus stop. He admitted he had gone into the community center to check on the arrival time of a bus, which he said he needed to catch to get to a job interview. The bus came and went as he and the officer talked. The officer told the young man he would drive him to where he needs to go; if it turned out he was not culpable for the theft. The victim would positively identify him, and he was off to jail.
