Address4600 block Lien Rd. (Campsite was south of Lien Rd.)
DetailsA search and rescue mission for someone out in the woods, possibly succumbing to hypothermia, is something you might expect to hear about in the North Woods, but this case was one for an urban police and fire department. Saturday afternoon, the MPD and MFD were dispatched to find a remote campsite, somewhere south of Lien Rd. A 48-year old homeless man had called 911, saying he was drinking and that he could no longer walk, likely due to frostbitten feet. Officers and firefighters fanned out into the forest and were able to find the patient. He was placed on a sled. The rescue team pulled him north to some railroad tracks, and then another ¼ mile to an ambulance that had been stationed on N. Thompson Dr.
