Details

There were a lot of people at James Madison Park who were disturbed and upset by the antics of a knife wielding man who was drinking beer and wearing in a cape Sunday afternoon. Some park users were part of a wedding party, others - including a young mother - were just hanging out. The mom said the suspect stabbed his knife into the picnic table at which she was seated. Her child was in a stroller just a few feet away. Prior to sticking the table, the suspect had been using "vulgar profanity" while asking members of the wedding party for food and money. Witnesses said he also urinated on a building. When police arrived the large knife was back in a sheath which the suspect was wearing on his right hip. A City of Madison park ranger told the suspect – just before he was led off to jail – that he is now banned from all city parks for a year.
