Incident Date06/03/2014 - 9:00 AM
AddressW. Beltline Highway
DetailsThe Shadow showed up – for the first time this road construction season - on the busy West Beltline Highway yesterday morning.
In 2.5 hours Traffic Enforcement Safety Team (T.E.S.T.) officers issued 13 citations and 5 warnings. One ticketed driver was going 80 mph. He told officers he was putting the pedal down because all the traffic was making him mad.
The MPD alerted the public about The Shadow project a couple of weeks ago, and drivers should know T.E.S.T. will be putting The Shadow on the road many times over the next couple of months, particularly on the W. Beltline where road construction projects are numerous, making the need to pay attention and to slow down extremely important.
The Shadow is a police officer, dressed in civilian clothes, driving an unmarked MPD car. The officer looks for unsafe driving behaviors. When they are observed, the officer radios uniformed T.E.S.T. members, and they make the traffic stop.
