MPD officers were sent to the 2500 block of the W. Beltline Hwy for a single motorcycle accident with injuries.

Investigation disclosed that the motorcycle operator and passenger had been drinking together at a local tavern and departed on his Motorcycle. Since the motorcycle had two (2 ) sets of foot pegs, but no second seat, the operator rolled up his jacket for his female passenger to sit on. Once the couple were on the beltline between Midvale Blvd & S. Whitney way, the jacket apparently became entangled in the rear wheel/sprocket causing it to seize. At this point the operator lost control of the cycle, went off the roadway and crashed. Both parties were NOT wearing helmets and were conveyed to a local hospital where their injuries were NOT life threatening.
