UpdateMadison Mayor Paul Soglin says storms caused up to $10 million in damages. Some 25 homes were damaged, and several are no longer habitable. Numerous trees came down and significant property damage was reported on both east and west sides of the city. Soglin joined his city managers at a morning news conference to discuss response and cleanup.

DetailsOfficers were dispatched to above location reference the roof missing from a house and the residents being trapped inside. Officers initially unable to approach because of downed power lines. However, Madison Fire Dept checked all residences on the block and discovered just one injured person (treated & released on scene). Officers reported multiple trees sheared off or uprooted and multiple houses compromised (roofs missing or collapsed, other structural damage, etc.) throughout the West District. MGE turned off natural gas and electricity to the area to make it safe while they worked on repairing lines, etc.
Officers were also busy with traffic control on scene management city-wide reference severe weather & storm damage.
Westbound Schroeder Rd from Saybrook Rd anticipated to be closed until at least 7AM per City Streets Dept & MGE.
