Details

A traveling salesman, who has a permit to peddle clothing from the back of his van, had a gun pulled on him while displaying his wares in the 200 block of Kennedy Heights Wednesday night.

The victim, and an associate, pulled over after a group of young men called out: "Let's see what you got!"  The 42-year old proprietor opened the van's side door and the shoppers took a look for a couple of minutes. Eventually one grabbed for a $75 belt. This led to a tug-of-war between the prospective buyer and the 44-year-old sales associate, as the business owner asked the young man not to touch the merchandise, fearing a retail theft could be in the works.

Eventually the associate won out, as his boss told the would-be buyer not to mess with him.

At this point, another from the group of young men produced a handgun and pointed it at the sales team. That's when they called for police. The shoppers left in a vehicle before officers arrived.
