Details

Madison Police Officers were on routine patrol when they responded to the 300 block of S. Broom Street reference a fight complaint. Officers arrived and noted the suspect, later identified as Randall Wittman, had left the scene, but not before he walked up to a residence and challenged the victim(s) whether they were going to stop him from entering. The victims had never seen Wittman before, and got very concerned when the sleeveless man started to make threats to burn the house down and kill everyone! Wittman had also walked in a nearby pathway area, close to this residence, and knocked over several mopeds that were parked there; just before he disappeared.

As officers were conducting their initial interviews, a pedestrian walked up to report a subject passed out a few blocks away. Surprisingly the description matched exact to that of Wittman. Officers went to the 400 block of W. Washington Avenue, and located an incoherent and wavering Wittman. He was unable to answer basic questions, and had difficulty even standing. Officers took him into custody, and it also came to their attention that Wittman had recently encountered another victim; attacking that subject and scratching the victim on his mouth and nose. Wittman was taken to the Dane County Jail, and alcohol was definitely a contributing factor is the case.
