Details

On Sunday morning July 6, 2014 officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 2200 block of Luann Lane to check the welfare of a subject.  While investigating a potential disturbance at that location, officers noticed a man peering out the second floor window of the apartment .  The man suddenly opened the window, and exited head first to the ground, landing in some shrubbery.  He was able to evade capture at that point and began to flee on foot. As he attempted to run across Luann lane, the suspect was confronted with an approaching Fitchburg Police department squad car.  The man grabbed hold of the push bar at the front of the squad car, jumped atop it and rolled across the hood.  He continued his attempt to run away until quickly apprehended by a Fitchburg officer.

The man, identified as William C Williams, was transported  from the scene to a local hospital by EMS as a precaution to check for potential injuries. Williams had no serious injury, was medically cleared and was soon booked into the Dane county Jail on new charges of obstructing an officer. Williams was counseled by medical personnel on the folly of jumping from a second story window and leaping onto moving vehicles.  He apparently fled because of outstanding warrants for battery, disorderly conduct and a probation violation.
