Incident Type

Incident Date

07/10/2014 - 9:08 PM

116 W Mifflin St.

Cordez D. Mullen, 41, of Madison, arrested for substantial battery, disorderly conduct
Patience A. Hans, 41, of Madison, cited into circuit court for state disorderly conduct
Keith A. Mattson, 35, of Madison, cited into circuit court for state disorderly conduct

City surveillance cameras and several witnesses assisted officers in investigating a substantial battery that occurred at 116 W. Mifflin St. Thursday night.

At 9:09 p.m. officers responded to a disturbance at that cul-de-sac involving one person who had been knocked unconscious. Officers arrived and did find a man down. EMS arrived simultaneously and rendered aid. Officers contacted suspects who had been walking away from the scene later arresting or citing three individuals in connection to the fight. Officers determined - after speaking with witnesses and viewing video of the incident - that Cordez Mullen and Keith Mattson engaged in mutual combat at least two times with Mattson knocked unconscious toward the end of the fight. Mullen continued battering Mattson after he went down and a friend of Mattson's intervened defending Mattson and drawing Mullen away. The same friend is later attacked by Patience Hans on the city surveillance video, with Hans pushing the man to the ground. Mattson was transported by EMS with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers have asked the court to consider banning all three suspects from the State Street area as a part of their bail conditions.
