MPD will ask DA to charge the four juveniles listed above with being Party To A Crime - Battery to an Elderly or At-Risk Individual.

Male, age 69, Madison

At least one of the young suspects told police his friend struck a 69-year old Madison man in the back of the head in a "point 'em out, knock 'em out" type crime.

The 14-year old was not successful in his attempt to render the victim unconscious, and the man was able to provide police with descriptions of the five young men as they fled.

He had been walking in the 6500 block of Schroeder Rd. just after 7:00 p.m. last night when the group approached him from behind.

The primary suspect would later tell police that some of his friends encouraged him to commit the crime. The blow delivered caused the victim pain, but he stood his ground, turned around, and announced he was calling the MPD.

He told responding officers that one suspect had a very distinct hair style, and this helped police locate the suspects as they walked near the intersection of Watts Rd. and Struck St.

The primary suspect was taken to the Juvenile Reception Center. The others were released to parents or guardians, and the MPD will recommend the district attorney charge each with being a party to the crime.
