Two women had purses stolen late Friday night after being sprayed with some sort of substance. The downtown residents were walking home from the State Street area and were approached from behind in the 400 block of W. Washington Ave. They saw three robbers: two women and a man. The victims believe one woman had pepper spray, and it was used on both of them. After being sprayed, their purses were grabbed. One victim was thrown to the ground. Investigating officers later located the purses, in different locations, in the 400 block of W. Mifflin St. Both had been rifled through. Money and valuables were missing.
