2400 block South Stoughton Road (Wendy's)

Madison officers were called to an attempted armed robbery that occurred at the Wendy's restaurant in the 2400 block of South Stoughton Road at 00:41 hours.  

An employee was taking out the garbage when he was approached by a unknown male with a gun.  The suspect ordered the victim to go back toward the store and when moving that direction the victim disarmed the suspect then threw the gun as far as he could.  The victim then ran into the store and locked the door.  The suspect tried to find the gun but was unable and then jumped in the passenger seat of a black 4-door that was in the lot.  

The employee thought the gun was plastic but it was located by responding officers and was a real loaded handgun.
