Incident Type

Weapons Violation

Incident Date

09/26/2017 - 11:16 PM

453 W. Gilman St. (Cheba Hut)

R'Mani D.S. Norman, age 19, Madison
Suspect was arrested for possession of electric weapon, battery and disorderly conduct.

Female, age 27
Male, age 22

A Madison teen was arrested last night after pulling a Taser type weapon on two restaurant employees. She held it in one hand, while pulling the hair of a female employee with the other. A male employee intervened and all three ended up grappling on the ground outside of Cheba Hut, 453 W. Gilman St. During the struggle, the suspect repeatedly bit the upper leg of the male employee. He suffered a gash to his thigh. The disturbance started when Cheba Hut staff members asked the suspect to get out of a bathroom which she and a man were occupying. The suspect was then asked to leave the restaurant. She did not think there were proper grounds for her removal, so she threw a rack of potato chips and knocked over a newspaper rack while loudly protesting being kicked out. Two staff members followed her outside. Once out the door, a witness said the suspect " hacked a fat loogie" in the face of the male employee, and then pulled out the electric weapon which passersby could hear "crackling." Following the hair pulling and struggle, the male employee was able to get the suspect to let go of his workmate's hair, and keep the suspect on the ground until police arrived.
