A Welton Dr. homeowner was awakened this morning to the sounds of someone messing around with the screen to his patio door. He looked out and saw a stranger. The 34-year-old opened a window and yelled out causing the person to run quickly away.

As officers were investigation, a 55-year-old man - who lives nearby on Chautauqua Trail -approached. He said he had just been driving, trying to locate a man who had been inside his son's car.

The second victim said he awoke to his dog barking and looked out to see someone rummaging around inside the car. He ran outside and the would-be thief sprinted away. It did not appear he was able to steal anything as the crime had been interrupted.

Officers believe the same person is responsible for both cases. Both victims described him as being very fast.
