Incident TypeResidential Burglary
Incident Date04/04/2018 - 9:16 PM
ArrestedKyaire M. Turner-Calvin, age 17, Stoughton, WI
Suspect was arrested for burglary.
Victim(s)Male, age 40, Madison
DetailsHe had been burglarized once before, and the intrusion turned into motivation. A 40-year-old Margaret St. resident decided to install a video surveillance system in his home, one he can monitor in real time on his cell phone. This turned out to be a fortuitous foresight. For last night a burglar showed up at his patio door, and was breaking in as the victim – who was away from his house at the moment - watched on his phone. Police were called as the victim drove quickly back to his residence. He arrived to see the suspect climbing out of a window. The victim told the young man not to move, but the burglar chose to get back into the home and find a different exit point. He was on the run in the neighborhood as officers set up a perimeter. They were able to track him down. The teen had a cut on his hand that was actively bleeding. He claimed he had gotten it while fighting with a girlfriend, and that he had just left her home. However MPD forensic investigators will be interested to see if his blood matches that of numerous drops found at the crime scene where a patio window had been broken.
