Dorian L. Wade, age 28, Madison
Suspect was arrested for second degree sexual assault.

Female, age 24, UW-Madison student

Since the attack Central District detectives have literally been working around the clock on this case. Late yesterday, they developed probable cause to arrest 28-year-old Dorian Wade on a tentative charge of second degree sexual assault.

In the past couple of hours, the detectives led a group of MPD units to an address on Flower Lane. Wade was located inside an apartment and arrested without incident.

M-P-D SWAT, the Violent Crimes Unit, the Special Investigations Unit, and the Dane County Task Force assisted in the apprehension.

Downtown surveillance cameras played a pivotal role in identifying the suspect. Looking at a number of traffic cameras in the downtown area, investigators were able to locate a car that appeared to be following and stalking the victim as she walked toward her home.

Knowing the type and model of car, detectives next started poring over hours and hours of surveillance images recorded at Isthmus area parking lots. A car matching the description was found. Using ramp video, detectives were able to get a license plate number, and images of the suspect.

They used this information to come up with a name, a man who would soon become a person of interest.

Analysts at the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory in Madison were asked to expedite a comparison of DNA left at the scene with DNA of the person of interest, which was already in the system.

A match was made, and the MPD was notified of this yesterday. This culminated in today's arrest.
