Incident Report for Case #2018-132391

Incident Type

Residential Burglary

Incident Date

04/15/2018 - 2:30 AM

200 block W. Gilman St.

Male, black, 5'11", clean shaven, wearing a dark green long-sleeve top, blue jeans and smelling of marijuana.

Male, age 22, Madison

A W. Gilman St. tenant was still awake early Sunday morning when his bedroom door opened. A stranger said he had lost his phone and was looking for it. The victim lives with several roommates and at first thought the intruder was connected to one of them. He quickly decided it best to have a look around to make sure. That's when he and other housemates realized a burglar had cut a screen, opened a window and gotten into their home. Electronics - including a laptop - were stolen along with a pillow case, which was likely used to hall away the ill-gotten property.
