Male, white, 20s, thin build wearing black coat with hood and black knit hat


Matthew J. Kitsembel, age 30, Janesville
Suspect was arrested for armed robbery.


The suspect said a heroin addiction made him desperate and that is why he robbed the bank. He did so passing a note demanding money while claiming he had a gun. No weapon was found and he later admitted he actually did not have one.

Madison Police officers responded to a hold up alarm activation at the Home Savings Bank. Officers quickly learned that the bank had just been robbed by a male who was carrying what was described as a purse and that the male left the bank on foot. A Parking Enforcement Officer in the area spotted a male matching this general description running from the area of the bank. MPD officers caught up with and detained this individual and he is considered a person of interest in the robbery. Investigation is on-going.
