Suspect was arrested for operating while under the influence - 7th offense, hit and run, operating without insurance, resisting/obstructing and for a parole violation.
DetailsA concerned citizen followed an intoxicated driver after the man crashed into a car on E. Washington Ave., nearly hit a bicyclist, and operated erratically as he headed toward the city center. The trailing witness was calling in the suspect's locations, and a UW-Madison Police officer stopped the man at the intersection of N. Broom St. and W. Mifflin St. The MPD arrived to take over the investigation. A box that once contained 12 beers had but one that was still full. The driver gave officers a fake name, but his true identity was quickly discovered once his finger prints were entered at the Dane County Jail. He was arrested on a number of tentative charges including his seventh offense of drunken driving.
