The suspect has now been arrested for the shooting. His name and tentative charges are listed above. He and the victim know each other and were having an argument prior to the gunfire.



FIRST UPDATE

A person of interest is in custody on a parole hold. He is a Madison man in his 20's. His name is not being released at this time as the investigation continues and he has not yet been arrested for this crime.

Details

On 05/23/18 at approximately 8:01pm, Madison Police officers responded to a report of shots fired in an apartment building located above Whiskey Jack's bar at 556 State St. Officers also received information from dispatch that the shooter left the building on foot. Officers arrived to find a 36-year-old male with a gunshot wound to his head and another to one of his arms. This male was conveyed to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment. Many members of the Madison Police Department's patrol and investigative services are working to identify and apprehend the suspect shooter. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Madison Area Crime Stoppers and/or the Dane County Public Safety Communications Center.
