Details

Yesterday afternoon, an 89-year-old woman was walking through a parking lot, on her way to pick up a few items at Walgreens, 1725 Northport Dr. She could see there were a few teenagers outside of the store. Suddenly one ran at her, yanking car keys from her hand. The young robber immediately ran for her car, a 2001 Cadillac Eldorado, which she had kept in mint condition. He started it up, and a second teen jumped in the passenger seat. Stunned, the woman went to the remaining teens seeking help. They denied knowing the suspects. The victim then went inside Walgreens and staff assisted her in calling police. A few hours later, the stolen car was found parked in the 1900 block of Browning Rd. The gas tank was empty and license plates had been removed, but the Cadillac was otherwise not damaged. The MPD is in the process of trying to identify suspects and there is probable cause to arrest them for strong armed robbery and operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent.
