Update

Both parties involved in this incident have been identified. They are known to each other and the gun violence was limited to these two men. The shooting incident stemmed from a pre-existing conflict between the men. One of them knew that he would likely find the other at Kipp Corporation at 2824 Atwood Avenue and went there to confront him.  The two men exchanged gunfire. One of the men had been struck once and suffered non-life threatening injury. He received treatment for his injury at a local hospital.

On June 16, 2018 investigative leads pointed to a West Side motel where one of the parties was believed to be staying. Sirron A Buckner a 38 year old Madison man, was taken into custody there without incident. The second party, had been initially interviewed at the hospital.

Both parties are prohibited from possession of firearms.  Referral has been made to the US Attorney's office for possible federal firearms charges.  The MPD Violent Crime Unit continues to investigate to determine possible further charges.
